Product Description
Axminster Evolution SK114 Woodturning Chuck Package - 1.1/4" x 8 TPI
More than thirty-five years ago, Axminster produced and marketed one of the world’s first four jaw self centring chucks for woodturners. Over the years, much of the development has come from the feedback and input of professional woodturners. With over three decades of experience in production and design, we believe these latest chucks are the very best on the market today. Manufacturing of the Evolution chucks, jaws and accessories is done entirely in our production facility here in Axminster. The Evolution SK114 4 1/2" features a super-slim 114mm (4.5") diameter stainless steel body incorporating newly designed longer accessory mounting jaws. These low profile jaws offer a greater contact area within the slide ways of the chuck, minimising vibration during use. The ultra-compact design keeps the workpiece as close as possible to the headstock of your lathe to lessen the load on the bearings and prevent unwanted vibration during heavy stock removal. The kit gives you the ability to mount bowl blanks for initial turning all the way through to the final completion of a well-executed project; without removing the chuck from your lathe. This kit includes carefully chosen accessories to give you plenty of woodturning potential, it has a set of dovetail jaws (size C), into which you can also mount either the matching faceplate ring or the screw chuck. The Evolution is fully compatible with all accessory jaws and is the first of a new series of chucks and jaws. We are very proud of our Axminster chucks and offer a 5-year guarantee. All you need to do is choose the chuck thread to suit your lathe. Made entirely in Axminster, England.

Axminster SK114 Chuck
This chuck is unbelievable. The precision in manufacturing is so obvious. The jaw movement is super smooth and the grip is very powerful. I like the faceplate ring, I had never seen that before.

Axminster Evolution SK114 Chuck Package
After a long talk with Steve about the different chucks and jaws The Woodturning Store carries as well as many of the other brands available on the market I decided to go with the Axminister. I hesitated at first due to the Axminister is on the upper end price wise but boy was I surprised when I opened the box. The quality of the tooling pops out at you. The machining and finishing is a very high quality that is apparent in the chuck and carries into the jaws. I purchased four different jaw setups along with the chuck. I received them about a week ago but due to the holiday and being in the middle of installing a new dust collection system I haven't been able to test drive these jewels. I must say if they perform half as good as they appear I'm going to be very happy. I know I will be purchasing additional jaws in the near future. The only negative I see is that they are almost to pretty to use. I must thank Steve for taking the time to share his knowledge on the pros and cons on of a wide verity of manufacturers. I feel I made a wise choice.
